What is a Diamond Straightening Ruler? This is a great tool to use if you want to make sure your beads will look straight and properly aligned.

There are 2 kinds of rulers, one for square diamonds and another one for round diamonds. It's perfect to use the straightening rulers in large areas with the same color as this will keep you from putting the wrong color in. However, if you prefer to work in small sections and you are used to working with different colors at the same time, this shouldn't be a problem at all.

So how do you use this ruler? Before you start using your ruler, you first have to check if you can use your ruler with your canvas. I found during my research of other diamond painting companies that rulers may not work on some of their canvases, especially if you buy a less quality product. The grid of the squares is not created equally with all companies so you may have some canvases that the ruler will not work. So before you use the ruler tool, make sure the grid lines on your canvas match the grid lines on the ruler.

Once you're sure that your ruler will work on your canvas, carefully place the ruler on top of your canvas. Make sure the grid lines match to achieve the best results. Start placing diamonds in the holes by following the pattern. Choose the beads that will best fit the ruler and separate the ones that seem smaller or bigger. We send a lot of extra diamonds per kit so you have more than enough to finish your kit. Once done, just carefully lift the ruler and start filling in the empty spaces.

Here are a series of photos shared with us by Rian showing his process in using the square ruler:

One more tip, before you pull the ruler off, please make sure to press the diamonds with your hands or lightly use a rolling pin over the area. This will help press the diamonds in the holes and ensure they have been pressed all the way through. You may even hear that satisfying click when you do this and you'll know that the diamonds are properly placed inside the holes. This will also prevent the diamond from sticking to the ruler when pulling it off.

Here's a sample photo shared with us by Ileea while using a roller to press her diamonds. She did this in both directions (vertically and horizontally) making sure the diamonds will stay once she pulls the ruler.
