Diamond Painting Instructions
Diamond painting is quickly becoming a popular and enjoyable hobby for crafters of all ages, and it is easy to see why! The results can be absolutely stunning and just about anyone can create a quite mesmerising piece of art with a great amount of ease.
This style of painting is based around combining the concepts of mosaic art and paint-by-numbers. You build your painting up using tiny diamond shaped facets to create an eye-catching and extremely colourful design. The resulting artwork gives you a finished painting that truly sparkles and shines.
Each tiny diamond is applied in a three-step process that is very easy to follow. Creating your diamond painting can be very absorbing and relaxing. Starting out on a fresh painting can provide you with hours of creative enjoyment as you carefully build up your chosen design.
Depending on how ambitious you want to be when starting out with diamond painting, you can choose a specially designed kit to suit your needs. Diamond painting kits are available in different sizes and designs from very simple and straight forward for someone that is new to the craft, to more complex and elaborate designs that will offer more of a challenge, but will result in a truly stunning piece of artwork.

What is included within a diamond painting kit will very much depend on which one you choose to buy. Diamond Painting Tips
Before you make a start, make sure you read all enclosed instructions to familiarise yourself with the creative process. Lay out all your materials and equipment so that they are within easy reach. All your materials will be clearly labelled with names or numbers, for which you will have a key guide to follow. This will help you to more quickly identify the right materials needed as you work.
Your design layout should be protected with a plastic film. Peeling this back will reveal a sticky surface. It is recommended that you don't remove the whole protective sheeting at once, but instead gradually peel back small sections of the film as you work across your canvas. This means that when you want to finish for the day, the surface will be protected from dust or spills. It will also prevent the sticky surface from drying out.
Most diamond painting experts will recommend that you start from the bottom and work your way up. It is also advised that you work using one colour of diamonds at a time as you work.
You apply the diamonds to the fabric by dipping the tip of the applicator tool into the wax and pick up the diamond by pressing the tool to the rounded side of the diamond. This will enable you to carefully pick up the diamonds with greater ease and apply them more evenly to the canvas.
Once you have finished your work of art, you can use the protective film to cover your painting and then gently roll over the surface with a rolling pin to make sure all diamonds are securely held in place.
