Use an L shaped ruler and align it along the grid lines at the corner of your canvas. When placing the diamonds, make sure it touches the ruler as this will serve as the guide for your corners.
Once you've completed the section, you can remove the ruler and voila! Your diamonds are perfectly aligned!
